11.01.09 – Majlis Persandingan

Siuk udah mimpi but from faraway I could hear suara Wa Mamih calling my name…sheesh..is it morning already?? Watym kan ni? alum puas tdo ler..liat my hp it was 7.30am udah. My head felt heavy n my throat pun sakit2 rasanya. I opened my eyes n sat up slowly, whoa..ayong lah my head. Me bangun slowly n washed my face before turun kebawah cos nini kan lulut me again for d last time. Kenapa mcm paning2 ani ah? Jgn damam eh. Wa Mamih asked if sumthin was wrong but bila me kan jawab..no sound!! Bowh..where’s my voice? I could even hardly whisper!! Kalah Ella suara me ah..atleast ia sarut ganya..me langsung nada! Had to use sign language to her telling that me dizzy sikit. Nini pun sibuk suruh minum air asam jawa to help soothe my sore throat.

After that me berlulut again and then waited for bungsu laki to come n mandi langir kali terakhir. Nini urut2 my head..nyaman jua sikit rasanya but my throat was not getting any better. Selsema pun nda, batuk pun nda iatah nagging rasanya tu. Around 8.20am barutah bungsu dtg. By then rumah pun udah riuh cos everyone bangun n hectic kan mandi to get ready to go to Chancellor Hall UBD sal disana venue tempat kami akan bersanding. Jojo n my sis pun awal bertolak to UBD cos they both have appointment with Kay from Masamichi to do their hair n make up.

After mandi, me laju2 bersiap get ready kan bjln. Nasib baik jua my baju songket for bersanding udah awal Jojo bawa. I just need to get my body there..hehe..time was 9+ udah n aunty Hjh Zaleha kept calling cos she was at UBD already. Namanya bjanji kul 9am but last minute changes nya bungsu 10am cia sja..bungsu pun alum ada cos after mandi langir tadi he went back home to change. Baik jua rumahnya dakat. By 9.20am he arrived and we baca doa sebelum berangkat to UBD. When I arrived there, I ran up the stairs, rasa jua kan lakas atu sampai my mom pun riuh..heheh..Sampat gi melirik my pelamin dlm dewan tu..wah besar nye..cant believe I’m gonna bersanding there..hehe..I went inside VIP Room 2 where all my cuzzies ada udah n sedang memunggah souvenir boxes utk dbawa outside the main hall. Aunty Hjh Zaleha pun ada waiting..so sorry lambat..dgn bersusah pyh nya me bcakap since I could hardly speak. I sat down on the chair provided n just closed my eyes while aunty started make up. Santai..lega rasanya dpt rehat..buleh sambung tdo lgi..hahaha..I felt so relaxed..ngalih lps rushing tdi.

Around 1hr or so aunty pun siap make up my face but she had to rush sumwer else to make up another pengantin. Her assistant stayed behind to help usai my tudong n veil. When I was done ber usai at 11.30am, Jason came n took portrait shots. I looked outside the window n saw ramai org walking up the driveway to the hall. Cuz Marx updated me with ongoings from the groom side. He also informed that dewan pun udah ramai..Alhamdulillah..sempat gi remind him to standby when my VVIP guests dtg. I even msg Izati to inform me when they come.

Nda lama atu Eiwan came. Tekajut ia my voice sarut..hehe..kesian myself cos of my voice. If kan bcakap, rasa mcm berteriak wah but dui malai..makin sakit tekak ada plg. So better diam sja..save my voice. My frenz byk dtg to see me b4 they all masuk dewan. Thanx u guys..u know who u are ;) tgh2 me asyik meliat org yg naik bukit driveway atu, I saw my VVIP guests..panic sesaat cos I didn't get any signal yg durang dtg udah. Dgn bersusah pyh I called Marx n informed him of their arrival. Suara gi bagi kesian..hahaha..nda lama atu they came to see me. Wah they all wore theme color purple/pink for frenz..my family wore purple.

Time was already 12.00pm. Half hour lgi abis menerima jemputan. Durang Memet n Ajah came with hubby masing2..n also Kani..tq 4 coming..Cuz Jee suddenly asked if I had eaten or not. Dlm kesibukan since morning I had totally forgotten breakfast. I only managed to grab a bun n mkn otw to UBD. Even at that time I didn't feel hungry cos I was nervous actually. Jee insisted that I should eat walaupun sikit..juz to isi perut cos it would be very tiring bila udah bersanding n bgambar2. So she kautkan me food yg caterer sediakan inside the room. I ate abit sja cos I rly didnt feel like eating..nervous sgt2. Lagipun nda cali mun bgambar tpi gigi belada..hahaha..my flower girls, terdiri drpd cuzens2 n nieces pun ikut mkn. Kesian durang kelaparan panya jua alum mkn.

Cuz Marx kept updating ongoings dlm dewan n oso from d groom's side. Bagus my cuz atu eh..buleh tahan jdi PR majlis..hehe..at 1.30pm right on schedule mcm dlm kad jemputan, rombongan hubby pun dtg. I could hear d sounds of hadrah outside. Heartbeat pun makin laju..gedebak gedebuk mcm bunyi kuda belari daa..heheh..cuz Tikah as my bridesmaid help to usai2 my baju. I waited until hubby came into d room dipimpin oleh his uncle. Me salam tgn hubby n doa dibacakan. Then we both walked out menuju kan masuk hall. Flowergirls were already waiting arah entrance dewan. The minute I stepped out of the VIP room, wahhh...ramai nya org. Camera flash ani klip sana klip sini..nda lgi me kan teliat urg bah.

We walked along the red carpet towards our pelamin. Hubs ani excited sgt x, laju jlnnya nda sbr kan naik pelamin..relax la B..me pakai high heels x ni ah..jgntah laju bjln..nda lari kmana pelamin tani atu. It’s still on d stage..hehe..udah sampai on our pelamin n we were both seated, doa pun dibacakan once again. From onstage I could see d whole dewan penuh dgn org ramai. Terharu me cos I knew that byk org kawin jua today but a lot came to our wedding. Congratz to my fren Anis jua cos ia pun kawin 11.01.09 so we definitely cant attend each other’s wed..hehe..email ja pix mu Nis..After that it was picture session all d way..pose sana,pose sini, klik sana, klik sini, candid here n there. It was very tiring but fun..we finished about 3.30pm or so. Before berangkat balik rumah, bungsu baca doa lagi skali..I will always cherish d memories of our wedding in Chancellor Hall UBD..siuk x ah..~Kenangan manis kau dan aku…~

10.01.09 – Majlis Malam Berbedak & Berinai

I woke up early today around 8.30am feeling very refreshed and excited waiting for 2nyt..y? cos mlm ani me majlis berbedak. Of all occasions dlm wedding Brunei ani, I really love majlis berbedak..cos this is d time where the pengantin dress up in pakaian Brunei. And now it’s my turn to wear it..ehehe..As usual I had my mandi langir, this time nini yg mandikan me. After that put on my white baju kurung again, went downstairs, ate breakfast pastu naik ke bilik and prepared my baju and accessories for 2nyt. Eversince kan kawin ani, I developed a new hobby of vacuuming my room..EVERYDAY!!!..hahaha..mesti spotless my room atu.

Around noon I received a text message from an unknown no. Rupanya my fren yg lama dah nda tjumpa. She said ia kan dropby to my house and was already on her way. 10mins later sampai cia ia dgn hubby nya. Konon kan singgah skajap sja but melarat kami dua ah..ada jua 30mins..cian hubnya tunggu dlm keta..heheh..she couldn’t make it to our wedding iatah ia krumah kan bagi wedding gift..adui..terharu me eh. Tq so much lenx..Love ur gift.

After she went home, I felt so restless. Lunch pun nda me brapa mkn cos still rasa kanyang from breakfast. Last2nya apanah..me n Jojo watched VCD movie Indon lama..guess wat movie?? Hahaha..it’s an old Dono, Kasino, Indro movie..I don’t know where Jojo got it but it was fun watching movie atu again..hilarious bah durang tiga org ah. By 5pm after the movie ended, I showered and then kelai with my lens again..hehe.

Around 6.30+pm after Maghrib, Aunty Hjh Zaleha, my makeup artist came. She’s like MTV Most Wanted, one of the best makeup artist and highly recommended, that’s why I chose her to do my makeup for Berbedak, Sanding and Ambil-ambilan. Her assistant pun ada to help. I decided to ber usai in my room sja since it’s air-conditioned. Baik jua I kept my long hair, it was easier to twist them around the “ayam-ayam” thingy they call it, which I wore atas kepala..but sakit jua kana pulas2 rambut ah..paling sakit I think was the gear that was on my forehead cos it was really tight.

Jason n Eiwan came into my room and took shots of me getting ready. Ngam after I was done, Bibie, Diana, Izati n Nana came. We took pix together and then durang pun turun ke bawah. I took a pic of myself n sent via MMS to hubby..hehe..ia pun reply back with his pic..hmm nda mau alah jua ni..hahaha..I could hear the dikir downstairs, diketuai oleh cuz Marx. Time was 8.15pm but alum jua ada signal for me to go down.

At 8.30pm Wa Dadih came and signaled that it was time for me to go down. Wa Mamih escorted me downstairs and then disambut lagi by my Nini Usu bini who ushered me naik pelamin. Dikir marhaban pun start n Majlis Berbedak dimulakan by my dad and then my mom. After that my aunties and uncles followed. Last skali my cuzzies yg udah kawin..cos we have this tradition that only married people yg buleh membadaki..ntahla, nya urg tua-tua..

I praised Marx’s kumpulan dikir cos they also played the ‘gendang’ so it was very unique. Lawa lagi bunyi gendang nya ani..rasa kan dance to d beat..hahaha..but I couldn’t cos I was the main attention that nyt. I saw Jojo n my sis who were in charge of giving away souvenirs for org membadaki, menari2 dpn mata..hmm..tahan rasa sja..apa bleh buat..

Wah..byknya org membadaki..are there more? My head ani sakit udah cos the headgear on my forehead was starting to nag, and the “ayam-ayam” starts to feel heavy on top of my head. Around 9.20pm or so, abis udah me kana badaki. Wa Mamih and nini usu bini escorted me turun pelamin. I went and waited dlm guestroom while bungsu read the doa and then invited the jemputans for refreshment.

While jemputan makan, Jason took shots of me on the pelamin. I took a few more pix with families and friends before going upstairs to my room to take off the “ayam-ayam”. Cuz Aluz and her mom helped me to take everything off cos aunty Hjh Zaleha went home already. Ahhh..lega rasa kepala udah everything tanggal atu. Ringan jua rasanya..my hair was a mess after that cos byk penggunaan hairclips and rubberbands..hehe..I washed off my makeup and got ready kan mandi langir again..Sajuk x ah mandi at 11pm..if tah dpt request kai warm water mandi ah..hehe

After mandi langir, acara “masuk pengangunan” was done. N then me start berpacar..time was already midnyt..nini angah n nini KB yg memacari me..I was beginning to feel tired udah. Maklum tahan2 nda bgarak sal bepacar. Kan tidur, nda dpt..takut krg terkana pacar on my face..hehe..Jojo ntah dimana..i guez ia outside handling lucky draw..hmm..nda apa, bagi ia off 2nyt cos she’s been working very hard..heehee..I could hear my family diluar atu mcm meriah ja bunyinya..jealous nyer cos I couldn’t join..uwaaaa...asal siapa sja yg masuk bilik I asked, “behapa kamu?” rupanya durang sdg “Poco-poco”..hmm patutla meriah sakan diluar..aduuhaiii..

My eyes were getting sleepy udah but I still tahan cos alum buka pacar. When checked my pacar alum merah sgt so have to put sum more air asam. Ertinya menunggu ia dry lgi tu. My back ached n my feet felt cold cos nada movement. By 2.00am check pacar again but still orange..I told nini to just buka saja cos I felt exhausted sgt2 udah plus mcm lain ja rasa my throat ani usulnya. My head pun felt heavy..harap2 lah nda demam. Udah buka pacar, had to wait another 30mins barutah dpt dicuci..by 2.30am after I cleaned my hands and feet, I went to d kitchen..perut rasa lapar la..sum of my aunties n uncles still up sdg mkn. Jojo pun sdg mkn IndoMie..me pun ikut jua masbuk mamam..heheh..lapar bnr dah..riuh wa mamih cos me lum tidur..ehehe..lapas isi perut me pun naik kebilik my sis..tidur...time was 3.30am...ZzzZzzZzz

09.01.09 – Hari Pernikahan

Rise and shine girl..today is THE DAY..finally the day has arrived. I woke up around 7.30am, well actually kana banguni plang..hehe..still ada sisa2 ngantuk atu cos smlm ahir tdo but I had to get ready cos kan mandi langir again this morning. Before that, nini put on lulut for me again but this time she put on extra type of lulut which was very rough and gives u an itchy feeling. Eiii..rasang rasanya that type of lulut. That’s y nini didn’t want to give me that lulut earlier cos takut I couldn’t sleep. If not mau bergaru sja x all nyt. As usual PA pengantin pun ada to help me. Ksian Jojo..kan ku kanang jasa mu atu.

Around 8+ am bungsu laki pun dtg. Jojo helped me get ready in my kain sarung and bungsu then performed the mandi langir. After that I bathe as usual..nyaman rasanya udah mandi atu. Tak tertahan lagi itchiness ah. By that time all my family pun udah bangun from their beauty sleep. The house pun riuh tarus. I changed into my usual white baju kurung and then smpat gi text my soon-to-be hubby. Lapas atu went downstairs and had breakfast. Mesti isi perut dulu..cos krg udah put on makeup pyh kan mkn.

After breakfast I went upstairs to my room, double checked if ada anything to usai2. I knew I was nervous..in a few hours lagi me kan nikah but I didn’t wanna think about it dulu. Nervous punya pasal, sampat gi me vacuumed my room for ntah keberapa kali udah..hahaha..udah atu I prepared my baju nikah and all accessories needed and bawa turun to our guestroom downstairs. Bungsu advised that I changed in a different room so that bilik pengantin nda berkacau.

By noon, all male families went to perform sembahyang Jumaat. Hubby pun smpat gi call before ia jln kan sembahyang. After lunch, me mandi again. This time I didn’t feel nervous anymore. I needed to relax. Yang buat sanak sja my contact lens..berkelai bah sma lens ah cos me alum biasa pakai so I had a hard time poking my eye..hehe..By 1.30pm sharp, my makeup artist came. Namanya Aunty Zurina. I chose her for my nikah makeup cos I like the transformation she makes. Time makeup ani me santai sikit. I felt like sleeping cos most of the time tutup mata. Siuk x ah kana makeup ani..ehehe.

I could hear bunyi riuh2 suara org diluar..tandanya makin ramai my family dtg udah. Some came into the room to see me but after awhile I told my niece to lock the door. Rimaslah bunyi lakap lagur pintu buka tutup sja..plus I didn’t want aunty to lose concentration with her work. Krg nda tantu my makeup..haha..In the middle of makeup, my frenz Memet, Tikah, Ajah n Monne pun dtg. Thanx Met..u came to my wedding. Asalnya she couldn’t make it back to Brunei cos ia study in UK but a few weeks before my wed she called me up..SURPRISE..SURPRISE..panya dBrunei dah ia..hehe..yg me ksian my bro no. 3 who’s also studying in UK nda dpt balik cos ia exam msa atu.

Not long after, Jason my photog came. I couldn’t open my eyes but I could hear his voice. He took a few pix of me kana makeup n then kuar cia. Around 3pm atu I was done kana usai. Jason asked if he could do a few portrait shots dlm bilik. Paksa lgi mencari Jojo cos she was in charge of menyimpan kunci bilik. Ler..PA pengantin anipun sdg kana makeup jua panya..hehe..We did several shots dlm bilik..nyaman jua udah ber aircond atu. Terasa my makeup was very heavy cos aunty put on too much foundation on my face. Nda lama atu Bibie came with her sis Fatin. Ada jua dgn bercerita dlm bilik. I got worried cos Eiwan (videographer) alum nampak bayang2nya so I called him. Panya ada udah ia dbawah tgh shooting. Bukan apa, takut ia sasat nda tcari rumah.

By then durang Diana, Izati n Nana pun dtg jua. We took a few pix together before they went downstairs ke living room. Byk org comment I looked different..iakah? bila liat mirror..awu bnr jua ah..I almost didn’t recognize myself too..hahaha

At 3.45pm, cuz Marx as my PR Majlis Kahwin gtau that rombongan pihak lelaki udah sampai. Right on time. Function pun start lah dgn majlis menerima hantaran berian dulu. I was alone in my room, sampat lgi usai my quilt..hehe..need to do sumthin to relax. Pastu check baju dlm almari..ntah apa2..suddenly Jojo masuk and said that it was time for me to go down. Huh?? Skajap jua menerima berian atu. Rasanya baru jua drg dtg..but when I looked at my watch it was 4.00pm udah panya. Cepatnya masa.

Jojo pun iringi me to the living room. The minute I stepped in, all I could see was camera flashes sana sini. Wah byk nya paparazzi..hehe..Jojo helped me to sit down on the Lapik Nikah. Hubs 2x toleh at me..bangang look on his face..hahaha..lain x peliatan nya me atu..heheh..then the ceremony started with bungsu laki baca doa n then summarizing balik what we learned masa kursus nikah. Refreshing everyone about do’s n don’ts in marriage. Terasa sangal udah my leg cos me duduk bertimpuh ayu ;p Jojo had to urut my leg discreetly to lessen rasa sangal2 atu. 20mins later it was time for the real akad nikah part. Me heart rasa dag..dig..dug..this is it. This is the moment. Bungsu held hubs hand and when hubby ans, “Aku terima nikahnya…” sah lah me jadi Mrs.G.Ban dgn skali lafaz at 4.24pm. I looked at hubs and smiled. Felt very happy cos ahirnya we’re officially bound together.

After that hubby signed the nikah papers n then bungsu announced that hubs will perform the “Sujud Syukur”. While hubby prayed, Jojo helped me to stand up. Struggling bah kan berdiri ah..hahaha..i couldn’t feel my left leg at all. Stiff berabis..pastu kan tumbang gi rasanya sal nda balance. Two people had to help me get up and sit on the pelamin. Udah atu when Jojo kan put on my shoes for me, kan ketawa ada jua rasanya but have to control..salnya I felt my foot atu mcm too big to fit my shoe..hahaha..sangal punya pasal.

Nda batah atu hubby pun dtg with bungsu and then acara “menapak” was done and then we both bersanding skajap on the pelamin before acara “pemberian mas kahwin” from hubs to me. I was all smiles for the cameras. Happy?? Definitely..today is my day..I have all the rights to be happy. Families and frenz congratulated us both. While all the guests’ makan diluar, hubs and I took pictures di dalam. Around 6pm, after gambar2 with almost everybody, hubby had to go home. I waved him goodbye sampai I couldn’t see his car anymore.

Phew!! What a day..I will always remember today as my most important n happiest day of my life. I couldn’t stop smiling afterwards..heheh..

08.01.09 - D Nyt b4 Nikah

It’s been a week after New Year. I can’t believe “The Day” is tomorrow. Hectic lah the final week before kan nikah ani. I just took our baju songkets for Bersanding and Ambil-ambilan 2 days before kan nikah cos it needed alteration. Maybe sal nervous atu kali, I lost a few inches arah my waist iatah need to alter my baju.

Jojo start tdo at my place since New Year udah to help me with the final preparations..thanx beb!! I owe u a lot. My function started 1st Jan where I had my “Bedak-bedak Mandi”..kira opening berlulut lah tu. It started with my nini/pengangun putting lulut on my face and hands, then my parents, followed by my aunties, uncles and cuzzies. After that every nyt me berlulut with my nini. Rumah pun meriah cos all my relatives came during the “malam berjaga-jaga” to help out.

Tonight (08.01.09) I had my signature taken for Izin Mauliah. My bungsu laki/our Jurunikah suggested we do it earlier so that during nikah day function nda lama. The function would start after ‘Isya. I put on my white baju kurung and my cuz Rose helped to make up my face. Bagi touch up sikit lah. After ‘Isya, udah all families semua gathered together dlm living room, I went downstairs to the living room and sat on the Lapik Nikah that has been prepared for me.

Ceremony started with bungsu laki membaca doa and explaining the purpose of the function. Then my dad as my wali asked me (ada script lagi..hehe) if I agree untuk di nikahkan with my fiancé. I answered “yes I agree..” (also ikut skrip prepared by bungsu laki) and then lapas atu sign2 some nikah documents. My dad pun sign as wali and my Tua and tangah signed as saksi. Udah selesai majlis me salam2 all my families then got ready for "mandi langir" which was done by bungsu laki. After that me berlulut again.

After berlulut, it was around midnyt that time, I got bored dlm bilik plus parut ani lagi keroncong2 kelaparan, so I went out ke dapur. Dpt mkn sikit pun jadilah as long as isi parut. If mkn byk krg takut nda muat baju plang..hehe..i saw durang my guy cuzzies ani mcm bz ja with sumthin so I went ke living room. Owh rupanya they were practicing how to make an entrance msa angkat the lapik nikah & dian 4. Bungsu laki jdi director. I sat and watched them abit before realizing that it was getting very late. Time was almost 1am..bride needed her beautiful sleep…but before that sampat gi dating on d fon skajap with hubby..ehehe. At his place pun riuh2 bunyinya ramai org. Meriahnya…can’t wait 4 tomorrow.

Wedding Preparation

Wow, time really flies very fast. Rupanya 5 months udah me bergelar Mrs. G.Ban ani..ehehe..rasanya mcm baru jua yesterday kami nikah..aisehmen.. I still remember that day..9 January 2009, the day when my “Miss” title berubah jadi “Mrs.” Masih fresh dlm ingatan n takkan ku lupa sampai bila2. Like any other bride-to-be, the anxiety of getting married increases as “the day” approaches. My hubby n I have been planning our wedding preparation for over a year and we’re glad that everything went according to plan.

3 months after our engagement on 07.07.07 (nice date huh) my hubby (masa tu stil fiancé) n I sat down together n started to talk serious matters. Well, knowing him..he’s d joker dlm familynya..so I guez u can see my point here. Anyway, we discussed about a lot of things. Family suggested kami kawin 08.08.08 (ngam gi Friday)..lawa plang that date tapi masalahnya date atu very the popular..ramai udah pengantin booking tarikh keramat atu plus that month memang ramai urg kawin kan menyampati before puasa. So it was a very BIG NO! NO! nah ada exclamation mark lgi..ehehe.

We liat calendar lagi..rasa2nya December 2008 kot? But Dec has always been a popular month for weddings jua n byk urg vacation overseas so last2 nya we decided to push to January 2009. With our dates confirmed, we both told our families..durang pun ok, nada halangan. After that bermula lah “Amazing Race” kami mencari bridal boutique, souvenirs for the jemputans, catering mana yg bisai, wedding photographer n videographer..and all sorts of things yg sedara mara sama wedding anilah. Mun negeri lain buleh pakai khidmat wedding planner asal ada ongkos nya. But for me, I loved being my own wedding planner. Satisfaction atu lebih terasa cos everything u do urself. Ngalih nya nda pyh cetalah..memang tiring but puashati. My mom acted as the advisor and I owe a lot to my cuzzies Jojo n Amoi. I also asked for opinions jua from my aunties and uncles.

The most fun part of all bila kan kawin ani is the shopping for hantaran part..yeyyy..heheh..cos this is the part where u can buy anything u want..ehehe..plus u get to spend more time with ur beloved cos of the wedding preparations. N then there’s also the part of surveying for bridal boutiques. We went bridal hunting for about 3 months before we found one which best suited our budget. Bajunya pun lawa2. My hubby n I wanted our baju songkets to be customed made, ofcourse ada additional cost plang tu but it was worth it. I became a regular customer buying Pesona Pengantin magz, not only does it give fashion tips but also tips about almost everything pasal marriage n relationships. Baguslah magz atu. Til now me setia membali..heheh..

2008 was really a hectic year for my hubby and me. Every month memang ada sja yg we buy for our wedding nanti..usually after payday la..heehee..days passed by..months pun laju jua..tau2 it’s almost end of December udah. Wah tak terasa la..nda gi lama kami kan kawin panya. Everything else was settled, kursus nikah pun sudah..tinggal menghitung hari saja lagi..I almost couldn’t believe that I was getting married..balik2 I asked my cuz Jojo, “banarkah aku kan kawin ani beb?” sampai ia pun sanak udah mndgr..hahaha..marah cia plang cJoj anie ;p Tik tok tik tok..masa pun berlalu..

Lama udah hubs n me kan mkn sana but ntah ah..melencong to other place cia plg..haha..now we've officially dined at Charcoal..d food was great esp the lamb chop.
